We all argue with loved ones    (1)    . Some of us have a hard time forgiving and forgetting afterward, though.

How    (2)    move past our anger can be a puzzle.

Actually, the answer really is " a puzzle. " Researchers at Harvard University have discovered

that lovers who do puzzles after fighting are able to let go of their anger much more quickly.

It seems that mental stimulation prevents us from staying mad at the ones we love and can even help us get over bad breakups.

If the    (3)    area of the brain is kept busy, emotions are more easily controlled.

Doing puzzles like crosswords and Sudoku can actually make you want to kiss and make up after a fight.

The activity also stops you from constantly going over the argument in your head or waiting to do something to    (4)    .

Puzzle-solvers feel much better the days    (5)     a big quarrel.

The next time you have a falling out with your significant other, reach for a buzzle.

A crossword to day can prevent a dozen cross words in the future!

1. 選B:from time to time

(B) for time to time

‧Bianca doesn't often eat sweets, but she has a piece of chocolate from time to time.

(A) at the same time (同時)、(C) once upon a time (從前)、(D) in not time (馬上;立即),皆不正確

2. 選B:we can

‧Where he left the car is the thing that Frank is trying to remember right now.

3. 選C:puzzle-solving

‧Building the fence was back-breaking work, but we finished it on Sunday.

‧I couldn't read what was written on the water-soaked paper

C:puzzle-solving

4. 選A:get even

(A) get even 指「報復」

‧Dustin tried to get even, but he only made more trouble for himself.

(B) get around

‧When I was in Singapore, I got around mostlyon foot.

(C) get along

‧I don't know Katie very well, but we got along when we worked together on the project.

(D) get through 指「渡過;辦完」

‧Jonas was tired, but he got through the afternoon by drinking two cups of coffee.

5. 選D:following

原句應為 the days which / that follow a big quarrel (重大爭吵之後的幾天)

因為主詞 the days 和 follow是主動關係,故省略關係代名詞 which / that之後,動詞要改成V-ing形式

(D) following
