Since I began my hobby of photography, cats have been my favorite subjects.

So, when I heard there were lots of cats in Houtong in Taipei County, I had to visit.

This remote town was once a productive coal-mining center, but those days are long gone.

Many people left, but cats moved into the fading town.

Some kind residents began feeding the wild cats, and consequently more came.

When I visited Houtong, I got wonderful shots of these felines and posted the photos and stories on my blog.

自從我開始攝影這項嗜好以來，貓一直是我最喜愛的主題

所以，當我聽到台北縣的猴硐有很多貓，我一定要去造訪

這座偏遠的小鎮曾經是一座多產的煤礦開採中心，但是那些日子早已成歷史

許多人離開了，但貓搬進了這座凋零的城鎮

一些好心的居民開始餵這些野貓，結果更多貓來了

我造訪猴硐的時候，為這些貓科動物拍了很精彩的照片，還把這些照片和故事張貼到我的部落格

Surprisingly, my blog created a kind of cat tourism in this small town.

Feline lovers endured hours-long train rides to photograph and feed the cats.I saw potential problems, though.

More visitors meant more garbage, and overfeeding could cause the cat population to expand too much.

Had my friendly gesture of advertising the town created a burden for the Houtong community？

令人驚訝的是，我的部落格為這小鎮創造了一種貓咪觀光業

愛貓人士忍受幾個小時火車車程來拍照和餵食貓咪，然而，我看到潛在的問題

更多的遊客意味著更多的垃圾，而過度餵食可能造成貓的數量擴張太快

To help with the situation, I brought veterinarians in to neuter the cats.

In addition, I established Cat's Paw Day in 2009, for which volunteers clean Houtong's streets.

We made a good impression on the locals and gave everyone, including the cats, a better environment.

Even the local skeptics encouraged us to organize more events for their quiet town.

為了協助解決這個情況，我帶了獸醫來幫貓咪結紮

此外，我在2009年創立了貓掌日，志工們在此活動中清掃猴硐的街道

我們給當地人留下很好的印象，也給包含貓群在內的每一份子更良好的環境

2. make a good impression　留下好印象

impression [ɪmˋprɛʃən]指「感覺；印象」，若要表示「給某人留下良好的印象」

則用片語 make / create a (good) impression ( on + sb )，如文中用法

‧I think Niles made a good impression on my parents.

　我認為奈爾斯給我父母留下了良好的印象

相反片語 make / create a bad impression ( on + sb )

‧Showing up late will nake a bad impression on your new boss.

　遲到會給你的新老闆留下不好的印象

have / get the impression ( that ) S. + V. 表示「對某事有印象」

‧I have the impression that you have already seen this movie.
