His family goes to China visiting relatives for a month so he is free from the family for a month too. We know this event is coming so we have been planning our vacation for a while.
Last Saturday we had lunch buffet at Shin-Sen-Gumi Monterey Park. We went there for Shabu Shabu mostly, but to be honest there was not much variety available for Shabu Shabu at all; beef & pork slices, 2 veggies, tofu and udon. The quality of the meat is goog, though.
At Saturday night, we went to Santa Monica. We walked on the 3rd Street Promenade, the pier and the beach. It was really nice to be able to walk and talk and spend time together, and did not have to worry about the time.
On Sunday, we took public transportation to check out places. We went to one of the schools he studied, "East Los Angeles College". After that, we went on to Union Station and Olvera Street. There was an outdoor concert going on the Olvera La Plaza. It is called Zarzuela Project sponsored by LA Opera, and the purpose is to reserve the tradition of mariachi. After a short walk on the Olvera Street, we headed to a restaurant, "Philippe the Original". We had a lamb sandwich, a piece of chocolate mouse cake, a pickled egg and a cup of lemonade. Then we went on to Broadway, LA Live, and Pershing Square before heading back. We got to go from "Old Country Man" and we had dinner at home.
All and all, I am very happy and I enjoyed every minute of it.
